Hello! Forgive my silence. Been meaning to update this blog for a while but I’ve been busy with the dayjob, my family, and, every once in a while, writing!

Let’s start with the stories that just came out:

“Life in a Glasshouse” is partly inspired by the ass-kicking Femme Fatale personality of Jessica Jones (‘ala Krysten Ritter’s portrayal on the Netflix series). The main character in this story is Darcy McAllister, who has a unique time jumping ability and works as a private detective on an underground colony on the Moon. Sound cool? I think so!

In late September, a story I wrote almost ten years ago and garnered close to 40 rejections, finally saw the light of day in Issue #8 of Underland Arcana. The story is called “But My Heart Keeps Watching.” It’s a sad, dark, story written originally in an attempt to write in a Magic Realism style, but read with modern eyes, feels more like a Horror story. I never considered myself a Horror writer, more of a Science Fiction and its various -ism’s kind of author, but as I read more of the modern Horror genre, I see it actually fits very well with what I’ve been trying to do with my writing for years. And, with that realization, I have leaned into it with a number of pieces I’ve written recently.

I’ve always believed this story is one of the best things I’ve ever written and I hope you’ll give it a read.

The story is available for free to read online, but can also be purchased in print or ebook from the following link: https://underlandpress.gumroad.com/l/issue08

Fun fact #1: I will be reading this story on my THIRD appearance on Story Hour on December 14 of this year.

Fun fact #2: The editor of Arcana, Mark, recently accepted another of my stories. So, I will be in issue #9 as well! Look for my story “A Fiery Lull” – an epistolary tale of a world where sleep has been outlawed, but some clever stoners found a way – sometime next year.

Lastly, it looks like my next anthology appearance, for my tiny drabble, “Dig, Dig, Die” in the book Planetside by Shacklebound Books, will be out in November.

Thanks for stopping by!
